Description

The large sour cherry for eating fresh. Šumadinka bears large, dark-red fruit with ruby flesh and ripens later than other sour cherries — extending the season once the other varieties are already picked. Tough against frost, drought and disease.

Botanical name Prunus cerasus ‘Shumadinka’
Fruit Large, dark red, ruby-red flesh
Taste Semi-firm, juicy, sour-sweet; intense juice
Harvest Late — after most sour cherries, extending the season
Pollination Self-fertile; a richer yield with another sour cherry nearby, such as Oblačinska
Cold hardiness Down to -29°C (USDA zone 4–7); resistant to drought and disease
Uses Fresh, wine, rakia, processing
Sun & soil Sun or light partial shade; well-drained soil
Sapling Grafted; bare-root or container
Delivery 2–5 business days (Bulgaria); 4–7 days (Romania)

💡 Nursery tip: the classic home combination is Oblačinska for juice and rakia + Šumadinka for eating — together the two cover the whole season and every need.

🍒 What to expect: the first fruit usually comes in the 2nd–3rd year after planting.
“Health & Bloom™” Guarantee — the sapling arrives carefully packed and ready to plant.
